95th Aero Sqdn. Nieuports 28

Dear friends,

I am looking for some information about certain aspects of the N.28's flown by 95th Aero Squadron, USAS. I wonder if anyone could help me with these questions...

What was the serial number of the 'Black 8' N.28 of Flight Commander Waldo Heinrichs?

Does it exist a detailled list of plane numbers of the members of this Sqdn.? (for Example, 'Dark 14' for Roosevelt, 'Black 8' for Heinrichs or 'Red 0' for Sewall)

Does The Flight Commanders or the Squadron Leader wear any kind of special markings on their Nieuports, (i.e, tricolor bands) or just the cowling markings of each flight?

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards from Spain,

Rinahe

Much of the info you mention is contained in the book:
"First to the Front: The Aerial Adventures of 1st Lt. Waldo Heinrichs and the 95th Aero Squadron 1917-1918"
by Charles Woolley.

Also very useful is the Gorrell Report:
E: Squadron Histories

I'll check later to see if I can find the specific serials.

Checked a few sources.
Heinrichs is listed in First To The Front as flying N.28 N6158 and #8 N6160.
Some of the other aircraft # / pilots:
#14 - W.H.Taylor
#12 - E.H.Jones
#0 - S.Sewall
#16 - B. Casgrain
#9 - C.Woolley
I don't know the serials of any of the above.

Dear Cliff,

I will try to get a copy of 'First to the Front' (I have just a second hand copy of 'Echoes of Eagles' from the same author).

All the information that you have given to me is great...

Thank you very much!

Best regards from Spain,

Rinahe
