18aviation collector.

I think you need to track down Alex Revell's 'High in the Empty Blue' - 56 Sqn history which contains, I would say every photo, of 56 Sqn in existance. Sadly photo of machines you are interested in probablly do not exist.

For interest - 56 Sqn adopted the well known 18' white bar shortly after the Voss fight replacing the bumb bells. Then in March 18 all Brit squadrons changed their Sqn ident marking - 56 adopting the two slopping bars.

Also it was common in Brit sqn's to paint wheel hubs / engine cowls in the following colours - A Flight - red, B Flight - often black & C flight - blue. British tradition is for the B sub unit to use 'yellow' but this has the connotation of cowardice so black was most often substituted for flight recognition.

B Flight 56 Sqn had quatered blue & white wheel hubs as in picture but not apparently at time of Voss fight.

Cheers Russ

I'm some what familar with sprites and billboarding....from old games..and hmm for what I do, clouds of that sort might just render nicely for me. So yeah a small tutorial on your clouds would be helpful.

We want some screenies now =)

Thanks Russ I will try to get a copy of it. I would be interested to see how much cross over there is in books such as this one, and the collection I have. I suspect that I have quite a few which will never have been published before, and I would like them to be published.

Cheers, David.
