Thank you, Dan_San, but I'm curious as to whether anyone knows the D.xxxx number for the
plane pictured below. Are they also the same Albatros that Mark Miller depicts in his digital model?
If it is okay, I can post Mark's image, but I don't have his permission.

The Roden box seems to show D.4691 or 4091 or 4891. Also, this box image, might have shown the
top wings (mauve & green) before they were painted over with red. They were painted red
weren't they. Perhaps I should just leave off the D.xxxx number from my plane?

Thank you again,

Art

Hi IArt7,

Unfortunately, the serial number of the D.V in which Richthofen was shot down (shown in your photos) is unknown. Best leave off any serial number. The wings were most likely overpainted in red on the upper surfaces.

James F. Miller did a superb series of digital profiles of this a/c which appeared on the covers of the latest Over the Front, Volume 23, Number 3, Autumn 2008.

Red winged Albatros DV

This is how I depicted my Eduard's MvR DV in 1/48th scale. It's how it was shown on the box. No Dxxxx decal was givin (why, I don't know). However the fact that the Iron Cross shows throught the red color on the fin/rudder, would mean to me that the D number should also show through. Your photos don't give a clear enough picture of the fin/Rudder to give this detail away. Iart7, you were not asking what the Dxxxx number for this DV was, only if the color scheme was right. The seems to be a consensus it is.

However, I am no expert!
