Another question on Hippert's D.VII Mimmi

Hopefully Dan San will read this... I have purchased your drawing of Hippert's D.VII Mimmi around 5 years ago but after moving cannot find it... what is the correct size of the cross insignia on the upper and lower wings? Looks like the decals from Aeromaster are too small on the upper wings but wondering what is the correct size (width and length in mm if possible)
thanks
Dave Calhoun

My Gallery
Crosses on Hippert's Fok.D.VII, Mimmi.

Hi David:
The upper wing crosses were centered on tenth rib from center. The Cross was 1300mm x1300mm, the arm width was 180mm and the white border was 50mm wide.
The lower wing cross was 1000mm x 1000mm, the arm width was 150 mm and the white border was 40mm.
The white borders do not close the arm of the cross.
Blue skies Dave,
Dan-San

Thanks Dan San. Looks like the Aeromaster decals have the correct size upper crosses but the lower ones are incorrect, they go the full span of the lower wing. Using your size divided by 48 the approx. size in 1/48 scale should be 27mm upper and 20.8mm lower. The Aeromaster upper is correct while the lower is 25mm which would scale up to 1200mm.

A couple more questions came to mind tonight. What kind of prop was used on this plane, probably an Axial? Also the two struts below the horizontal stabilizer that go to the bottom of the fuselage, would these be painted blue like the wing struts, or black & white checks like the stabilizer? and last but not least, anyone know the actual size of the oxygen tank carried on the side of the fuselage? I have seen the photo of Hippert with the rubber tube in his mouth but no good way to guess the size of the tank other than looking at the squares next to it.
Thanks,
Dave Calhoun

Mimmi??

Hi David:
All the struts were painted blue like the nose. The propeller was an Axial.
Blue skies David,
Dan-San
