The white arrow was the unit marking of Schlachtstaffel 20 (Schlasta 20).
Machine was brought down by groundfire. The pilot Uffz. Rudolf Hager was killed and the observer/gunner Uffz.Otto Weber was taken prisoner. Machine came down near Epinonville. Thanks to Rick Duiven and Dan San Abbott for their fantastic book "Schlachtflieger"where I took this information from.

it means groud-support-unit. To help their own infantry, low-flying with aircraft which were mostly special steel-plated on the underside.

Regardless of the stories you get from these experts, the REAL story is that the pilots on both sides were so young, planes were so new, and designs were so varied that they put arrows on so that they knew which way to expect the plane to go!
It's getting close to Christmas and I am getting goofy.
