Lowenhardt's DVII

I saw a reviewer on another site, who built Lowenhardt's DVII, useing Rodans
1/48th late war Fokker built machine. He painted yellow over lozenge on the fusalage in order for it to show though the yellow. Is this correct ? I was under the impression that Fokker built DVII's had streaked fusalages. And if so did it show though ? Gary

My Gallery
Which one??

Hi Gschmidt:
Oblt. Loewenhardt first flew an early Fokker built Fok.D.VII with the streaked fuselage and tailplane. with a serial number in the D.300/18 to D.350/18 range. During to time period of May 1918 to August 1918, Oblt. had several Fok.D.VII aircraft. I believe his last machine was a Fokker built D.VIIF in the serial number range of D.4350/18 to D.4299/18. These Fok.D.VIIF were the first attempt to rectify the auto ignition of the ammunition in July 1918 whereby six louvers were installed in the top right and left top cowlings and the three louvers in the single side panels. These machines, had the wings, fuselage and empennage covered with light and dark four color printed fabric with matching rib tapes. Oblt. Rich Loewenhardt's Fok.D.VIIf 4xx/18 had the fuselage, tailplane, forward fin, axle wing, wheel covers and all struts painted yellow.
Merry Christmas Gschmidt,
Dan-San

Hi Dan, Thanks so much. The reason for my post was how to color the inside of the cockpit. Your reply is a great help. Merry christmas to you as well !! Gary
