Anothre Jasta 50 question.

In the new Osprey Duel #20 'SE 5a vs Albatros D V' is a pic of
a crashed and mangled Jasta 50 Albatros with the normal tail striping
and a dot or lozenge? painted fuselage.
Any other pics or more info on this machine?

Thanks
Cliff

My Gallery
Mottled Camouflage.

Hi Cliff:
There were some Alb.D.Va machines where the fuselage and upper fin were camouflaged in a mottled pattern, as if done with a sponge. I have assumed the color was a olive green. Generally the pattern is almost solid on the top of the rear turtle-deck and lightens as the mottling moves down the side of the fuselage. Ltn. Gontermann's Alb.D.Va, in Jasta 15 was so painted.
Merry Christmas Cliff,
Dan-San

Another Jasta 50 question.

Thanks Dan-San.

I've seen some of those mottled ones, but this one looks distinctly spotted in about 4 colours. There is also a white/black/white band around the fuselage just behind the cockpit. The rudder cross has been roughly converted to the later style.
The pic is credited to Jon Guttman. The caption makes no mention of the colour scheme.
