1/2-Scale Fokker D-VIII for Rhinebeck 2006?

Just came back from Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Here is the most ambitious project there. I will not mention who the builder is at this point, but a very nice job indeed.

I do plan on being there when this one flys ...

Fokker D-VIII 1/2 Scale

Will post more pictures soon of Rhinebeck 2005 ....

Is this the same one that has been shown on Glenn Torrance's web site, being built in conjunction with Glenn's own 1/2 scale DR.I? Exciting projects at any rate.

No, it isn't Glenn. However, I do think the D-VIII has been on Glenn's website. I believe it will also be in Dayton. Glenn missed ORA this year.

Fokker D.VIII

Whoops...I just realized that for some reason it seems they don't want to mention the builder...never mind.

Hi Guys... The builder is Tom Kosewski from Sterling, Mass... It is a blow up of my D8 kit. I laser cut the ribs and gave Tom the drawings and other pieces such as the struts. Tom is planning to have it ready to fly at the 40th Rinebeck anniversary. He will not have it at Dayton. My 1/2 scale DR1 project has been tabled as I ran out of room. I have the top wing assembled and parts for the fuselage ready but don't have the room right now. I will have Tom send me update photos as he finishes it up which I can post on my website - Glenn

Well now that the cat's out ofthe bag, it is a really magnificent model! Tom has done a great job so far. I liked the use of carbon fiber in horizontal and verticle stabs for strength but to also keep the weight down. I love the laminated leading edges. A technique not often used any more.
