Count me as another Monocoupe fan on this thread! I posted a pic. of my Dime Scale Model 110 over on the "Monocoupe Club" Thread at the WWI Aero/Skyways Forum: www.aeroforum.org
Jon18, nice job on your bright red 'Coupe. Looks like a Clip-Wing. Is it from the Mooney plan?
Here's one of my Palen Memorial Meet entries, a Ray Malmstrom designed "cartoon scale" interpretation of a 1910 Hanriot.

Greenknight - I enjoyed watching your Hanriot float around the gymnasium. Thanks for bringing it, and thanks for coming such a long way to participate.
Jernst - Thanks for the compliment...the Blackburn spans roughly 14" (that's just a guess). I enlarged the drawings from the Munsen book until they fit nicely on an 11" x 17" sheet of paper. I'd still like to add a hint of rigging here and there.
best regards,

SL DIII and greenknight,
Thanks for the link. I wish I'd known about it before I completed the model; there are some great resources there. I love the Blackburn as well, excellent craftsmanship as always.
Thanks for the compliment greenknight. It is a clip wing, and it is from Walt Mooney plans. I've built several of these Monocoupes because they perform so well. They are also beautiful to look at, especially in the air. Great job on your 'coupe and Hanriot as well. I'm still hoping I'll be able to come to one of the Cole & Rita Palen Memorial Meets in the near future. I'd love to see all of these great models in action!

Cole and Rita Palen FF memorial event, Sat. Aug 5
The rescheduled Cole and Rita Palen Memorial Free Flight meet will happen on Saturday, August 5...rain or shine. We have use of the High School Gym, so even if we have a downpour, we can at least do some indoor flying with the smaller models. Hope you can make it!

COle and Rita Palen meet this Saturday/Hanriot model
Hi,
Just a reminder that this Saturday the rescheduled second annual Cole and Rita Palen Free Flight Memorial Meet will take place at Red Hook High School, rain or shine (weather looks good so far). If you are in the area, drop by and say hello. See post #28 of this thread and other earlier posts for more details
about the event.
Here's a picture of a 24" span Hanriot that I'm trying to finish up for Saturday...Still lots to do and little time left to do it.

It was a great day at the Palen Meet
Hi,
I'm sure SLDIII will give a full report, but here's a picture that shows some of the fun. Green grass, blue skies, cooperative winds for much of the day, and fantastic folks to mingle with! The atmosphere was something like a garden party with model airplanes.
Here Lee Henderson is about to launch his 35" Eindecker trimmed in fanciful Japanese markings. This model flew majestically. Behind him is one of the meet's hosts, Matt King, with a large Bellanca Skyrocket which has been flying for many years. Matt also has a nice flying Fokker D.VII in his large fleet.

Cole and Rita Palen Memorial FF event
Hi,
As you can see from greenknight's photo in the previous post, we had a bright blue sky and sunshine all day. There was a little bit of a breeze, but things calmed down as the day went on. Approximately 50 people showed up...many flew, and others dropped by just to say hello. We had a variety of models covering most of aviation history from the pioneer era up through contemporary times.
Plans are already underway for the 2007 Cole and Rita Palen Memorial Meet, which will have a special event for transoceanic aircraft in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Lindbergh's epic flight. Any aircraft designed or built to cross an ocean before 1938 will be eligible, including the Poll Triplane, Vickers Vimy, Curtiss NC-4, Lockheed Vegas, Bellancas, and a long list of others. More info will be posted as plans for the event progress.
Who will be the first to bring a Poll Triplane to the meet???
Anyway, it was a fun day and we look forward to getting together again to make it even bigger and better.
Best regards,
SL DIII
