Change to Flying Models.

Have we noticed that the title of this subforum has recently changed from Remote Control Models to simply Flying Models. I think this is a good change. It should allow our bretheran involved in control line and free flight to feel welcome here. Welcome aboard!

Thanks Mode One. I like the change too. Makes us real aeromodelers feel part of the game.

I do now!

Now, you need to know, if it's not R/C, it ain't Jack! At least this is the way some modelers think! However, the truth be told, I think more then 75% of R/Cers aren't modelers anymore, anyway. They're assemblers of ARFs!

I feel more kinship with FF, and CLers, as for the most part you guys still build models!

Yep. That's kind of the point these days. I see lots of R/C fliers at the local field, but fewer model builders. Really nothing wrong with that at all. One just likes to fly and not build, that's fine. But, when I go to a F/F Flying Aces contest, I see guys laughing and having fun and helping each other to do better in the competition. They love answer questions from the crowd. But that has just been my experience alone.

When I go into a Hobby Shop around here they give me a dull look when I ask for nitrate dope or Japanese tissue and they want to know when I'm moving UP to R/C!!! Well I've built platics (still do), R/C, and control line planes. All in all, I prefer F/F Scale, ala FAC style. But that's just me. Getting a scale WWI plane to fly consistently, flight after flight, alone, without a pilot, is the real aeromodeling challenge to ME (and I'm still not too good at it).

'Sides, there's room for everybody . That is untill they last green flying field disappears under some developers construction project . But that's another story.
