Exclamation I'll be there...

Dear Fellow ORA RC Lovers:

The PIPE here once more...I made my room reservations for the ORA RC event back in April, JUST before I went in for my LEFT hip replacement operation back on the 13th of that month...and here it is , TWO months having passed since that new hip got "installed"...can't WAIT to go!

TMoth4, I TRULY can't wait to see YOUR Hannoveraner "in the flesh"...just recently I MIGHT have convinced Seth Hunter to think about using one of the new FOUR stroke gasser Giant Scale engines in his "a-building" Pfalz D IIIa...I just do NOT want to see him RUIN the Pfalz's sleek nose contours with a more conventional "two stroke" gasser that demands a HOLE in the nose for its side mounted carb! One engine I mentioned to him, at http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/engines/rcs45vt.html . would be a GREAT one for that Pfalz of his...even if it would have to be saved for to purchase it...!!!

My Olympus C-770 digital camera AND my 1980 vintage Pentax "film burner" will be there with me, clicking LOTS of pics, and if I can save up for one of the Pentax "*ist-D" series of digital camera BODIES, for a purchase early in 2007 (to use with my film burner's lenses...the Pentax "Star-Ist-D" digital SLRs DO take the K-mount lenses) I'll be going ALL digital for 2007..!!!

And MORE work on getting a real "modeler's workshop" will be going on later this year...haven't had A REAL workshop since 1989...and getting TWO hips replaced over the last six years (my right one got replaced in June 2000) HAS slowed that workshop's coming by QUITE a bit...!

STILL looking forward to Old Rhinebeck, though......at least for the RC models !!!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Campers at ORA?

As part of an earlier post I asked if anyone knew the situation for self contained campers at ORA. Does anyone know if there is a camper parking area or how this is handled?

What about model trailer parking?

I hated to have to have the carb sticking out on the Hannover, but the engine runs so nice and is good and strong for the model. Maybe down the road I'll get one like the one you mentioned above. Once it's in the air it looks good though.

In the past in the back of the parking lot across from the Aerodrome (where the Museum builds are is an area where most folks park their RVs. I assume this will be the case again this year but with all the changes I would check with the Aerodrome or with the Mid-Hudson R/C folks. There is room back there for probably a dozed RVs/Travel Trailers. It is a bit tight and the ground is not even so get there early for the best spot. There are no hookups. There is a State park not far from the Aerodrome and they might have hook ups if needed. The RV/trailer area (there are tent campers back there too sometimes) is the sight of some pretty interesting parties on Friday and Saturday night!

Model trailers have been parked at the far end of the runway in the past. Again check with the Mid-Hudson folks about what their plans are.

Parking

Thanks Doug,

That pretty much confirms my guess. Not much room on the aerodrome side.

We used to go to the Jamboree every year when I was a kid and stayed here. This was 20 years ago, of course, but it was a real nice place and only a few minutes from the Aerodrome.

That looks like a swell place to stay, Eric. I'll keep that in mind for my next visit to ORA as I do not ever again want to stay at the Super 8 in the town to the west of Rhinebeck.

I've been to that one! Only one word to describe it: ICCH! However the trip to the Aerodrome required a drive over the Kingston Bridge, and that was an adventure in itself.
