Recap and link to more pics

From Hoosier Dawn Patrol CD Steve Percifield

To sum it up.....
The 2006 edition of the Hoosier Dawn Patrol is now one of those "I wish I had made it events". In all respects I consider it a success. We had 28 pilots with 52 airplanes from 8 states. There were 5, 1/3 scale models, including 2 national champions. The weather was as near perfect as Indiana can get. There was ample airtime for every one and every one flew. We had a great 3 days. There was only 1 major and 2 minor mishaps.
Although this was actually the 3rd Hoosier Dawn Patrol, I consider this the re birth of the event. Moving it to the AMA National Site was a "good thing". The flying site is emmence, no obstacles any where. We had special permission to fly at "dawn". It was perfect. Nothing put it in more perspective than when we lined the planes up on the runway. I think this overwhelmed us all, I know it did me. The Hoosier Dawn Patrol has arrived, and if you showed up without your airplane, then, SHAME ON YOU!!!
I have already applied for the 2007 dates you see above. It will be November before I know if we have them secure or I have to move. But, what ever date it is the 2007 Hoosier Dawn Patrol will be bigger and better. Get those birds built we are gonna do some flyin'!!!!!!!
Any event is worthless without participants. I thank each and every one of you who came. You guys make the event, and we had a class event. Sponsors also make the event and we had a good representation this year. I gave each of you a sponsor list, support them when you can. Spread The word, were comin' back next year!!!

Some random thoughts:

Our food vendor was terrific. Man those tenderloins were goooood.
Norman Kaz almost losing his 1/3 scale Pup because the wings came unplugged
How about Brian Hole driving to Indy to buy a new engine so he could keep on flying
A group of flyers working on Mike Bealmears engine for hours
4, 1/3 scale planes in the air at one time
That noon time line up
Almost losing another plane this year because of a bad transmitter
Having the weather forcast change hourly
Being very proud, you all came and made it the event of the year.

Steve Pecifield (Sir Percy)
