Polk's Fokker Dr1 flying video

Here is a video edit of my Polk's Fokker Dr1. Not a bad flying aircraft but it does require attention. It is really too heavy for electric in my opinion although it is pretty stoutly built. While flying yesterday evening the right aileron stripped and locked in the left turn position as I was setting up to land and it went in almost full vertical from 10 or 12 feet of altitude. The prop hub, a brass Higley's Heavy Hub, went into the dirt to the prop blades. The plane bounced up and landed upside down. Only damage was a loose center wing strut attachment point, a few spider cracks in the cowl and cracked upper wing mounting points. The repair is 30 minutes with CA.

I'm planning on painting it (anything other than red!), replacing the rudder with someting more scale sized and making a better looking cowl.

Flew the repaired and modified Dr 1 this morning. Flew about the same as before but it is a little lighter now as I've removed some wood from the aft portion and replaced that oversized rudder with one signifcantly smaller and considerably lighter. I flew it with a 3s 1700 HXT lipo just behind the firewall and it balances level. It has a shortened cowl too so the ability to balance with the battery behind the f/w is noteworthy. It was getting quite windy at takeoff so I landed after a few circuits. May try again this evening.

Anyone interested in more video?
