Tripe
The main plane support brackets/plates on struts. Actually I looked at them again, they look like they might be carbonfibre?

Rob, is there a fly-in there in September? Eastern Shore of Virginia? Do they have a western shore?! (just messing with you)

Yes, I'm working on making that happen...
... and yes, there is a western shore on the Chesapeake bay side of the Eastern Shore...

Graham, those are 1/6th aircraft plywood (the heavy stuff for full scale).
Rob, I really need to update my geography knowledge
I would love to get over there for a dawn patrol someday. I plan on the Hoosiers shindig this fall but it will be next year before I can get to any other fly-ins. I also plan on attending the Western Front Dawn Patrol in Iowa next year...maybe I can take the summer off next year also and just tour my planes?

Hi John, I have been following Del's build, but I had hoped you might know off the top of your head, saving me from the need to search through the thread. No problem though, I will email Del.
Hi Jtisch (a.k.a. the other John) I reworked that small prop hub yesterday, it showed true on my lathe but I milled it a bit more and remilled the face to put on the knerling. I will try to get a couple more hubs made in the next few days. School is done (GPA 3.89), only one more year left for my B.S. degree. Then my M.S. degree, then my Ph.D (for those that do not know, B.S. is Bull Shite, M.S. is More Shite, and Ph.D stands for Pile it Higher and Deeper!)

Howdy David, look'n fantastic my friend.
With the extra scale goodies I've added this past winter, the Dr.1 is up to about 35lbs. The engine dosen't even know the other two lbs. is there. It flies great at that weight, as your's will also.
Look'n forward to us flying together at the Hoosier in Aug.
Keep up the good work.
Del

David,
I'll toss my two pence in on the weight question . . .
I’m gonna guess that anything under 40 lbs will be just fine on your Tripehound – so long as you’ve got the CG correct.
Del’s on it’s first flight, at something around 33 lbs, needed more down trim than available, so I kept backing off the power to keep from climbing too much – ended up puttering around the pattern at no more than half power. And like he says, at around 35 lbs it doesn’t even break a sweat.
Just make sure of the Center of Gravity, and you’ll be fine.
Looking very much forward to a successful test flight report.
Very truly yours,
Lee McD

Well... hopefully, if this one works out this year... there'll be one next year... so I expect to see you next year...
