Jim, I will be there (Even if the Tripe doesnt survive). I return from Europe on the 11th so I can have a couple of days to get ready for the HDP!!!

Were you there last year?

Well, here she is in all her glory. Well...I still need to do the N500 and Sopwith company logo but they are on the way ( a buddy of mine is making me stencils). I am hoping for good weather this weekend so I can fly it again a few more times. The wood is cherry, leather for the cockpit combing and along the cherry veneer on the sides of the fuse (to hide my really poor trim job). My wife is standing behind the plane to give it scale. Yes, she is really short

I haven't been to the HDP but I've been to the Dayton DP several times, and Rhinebeck once. I like the WW1 events. They're very laid back and low stress...great bunch of guys too.

I'm sure your triplane will survive and we'll be seeing it at various events. BTW, It looks like you can go out back and fly!

Oh all you pilot snobs out there Nobody likes my Snoopy pilot!

I am thinking about getting a scale pilot, either a bust (Aces of Iron) or a full body (no clue where to find one).

I had a great flight with it today, our club has tuesday morning breakfast and flying (retired guys and selfemployed like me) so I had an audience for a flight today. There was a stiff breeze (12-15mph) right down the runway so it had a 10foot run before it lifted off, that was kind of hairy as I expected it to fall out of the sky if the wind died quick. The Zenoah G62 has a ton of power though so there was very little actual danger. The landing was excellent, the sprung gear worked to perfection and really looked scale on touchdown. I am very happy with the result.

On a sadder note, I had a catastrophic tiedown failure on the way home, the fuse came loose and slid sideways in to the wing rack. The top wing has some ugly damage to the trailing edge. Its an easy two hour fix but just annoying that I finally felt finished with the plane and need to do non flying related damage

David

By the way, I do indeed have my own runway on the farm, but it is narrow and in the middle of a cow field. It is good for small to mid sized planes, usually just to test out a modification or two. I really prefer to fly with other people.

Here are some pictures of the machine gun that a friend took at the field today. I made it using bits of balsa and the cardboard tube from a paper towel roll.

The Balsa USA gun kits take a little work but can be made pretty nice. I think they have that one in 1/3 scale.

True, they look good, but can I purchase one that is triple ply and comes in 200 foot rolls? At the local grocery store? Hmmm? Can I? Hmmm?

Remember, this is a fun scale project, I am happy with my sorta machine gun.

By the way, the wing is fixed, messed up my roundel though
