Fokker D.VIII

Hey Dale and everyone else. Check out this photo. It is the first time I have seen a clear photo of the top of the wing and the obvious multi-color streaking.

Yes, Alan Yendle sent me a group of photos yesterday that had that one included. No question about that wing scheme.

Also, over in the "plastic" models section here, there is a thread on a Polish D VIII that has a close up of the cutout over the pilot. The streaking really shows up there also.

Interesting how long a theory goes on, then someone takes a closer look and it all changes.

Thumbs up Awesome Pic!

This is a great picture. Prove what Dan and others have researched which is the news find. Great to have such scholars of history with us.

One of the most missed detail on the D.vIII is the padding on the wing cut out. Look at some of the picture's for detail. Achim said Koloman has done this on Landon's D.vIII, maybe he could post a picture of it here?

Cheers,
WF2

WF2, I believe you have seen this, but here is a link to the best shot I have ever seen of the wing cut out padding. Also a good shot of streaking

Super Glue?

Good question, but it looks like there may be tacks or something along the top edge. You can see several little indentations in the leather that are evenly spaced.

Yes, it looks like it is tacked to the wing by a salvage edge of material, similar to how the cockpit combing is laced to the sheet metal.

I would assume the bottom it done the same way. On a model .... I'd use Super Glue!. LOL.

Cheers,
Keri-Ann

Hey Bookmaker, you should be building ...

WF2, yes, I should be building.

Unfortunately, our firm is preparing for peer review next week (CPA's). That just adds another level of stress to an otherwise busy schedule. Especially since I am quality control partner
