Dale,that is exactly what I am going to do.I am using Mick Reeves wheels(modified) so I just have to take out and shorten the tube I already have in there.Thanks!!

I've been playing around trying to get a nice solution for putting oil streaks and grime on my DRI.I put graphite powder into clear paint(yellowish clear) and brushed it on with cut up parts of a foam brush.Anyone ever tried this before?I think it looks pretty convincing and am thinking of giving it a try on the actual model.

J, on my N 17, I used a water based acrylic paint called Dellta Ceramicoat. It looks just about like ground chaulk in a liquid solution. It comes in several dirty looking colors.

I put a drop or two on and smeared it and blew it so that it streaked. Then I put satin clear waterbased polyurethane over it. Looks pretty decent.

Well,this isn't the greatest photo,but I liked the graphite look enough to do it on the DRI.Sorry the flash ruins it somewhat and the focus isn't great,but I think you get the idea.IMHO,it looks pretty good, at least IRL.

Getting closer!I am doing a final check of the incidence on the top wing and then will permanently install the cabanes.Then I can do the two front top panels and finish the two top interplane struts and that is about it for any major construction.After that it is all adding detail.I got all the big pieces painted and the crosses redone.I weighed it again and my going easier on the paint paid of as the weight gain was less than I had expected.It should definitely come in under 16 lbs.

John, your Dr I looks outstanding. Great paint job. All up weight of 16 lb
should be perfect. Mine is right at 17 lb and and is still my favorite plane
in my hanger, it's 12 years old now.
