WF2,
Thanks for the note. I thought I could relieve myself of some pressure to get it in the air by making the decision to slow down and make sure I get things right before the first flight (which means after Rhinebeck) However, true to form, I've now gotten all worked up over getting more details completed before Rhinebeck. I do hope that those that see it will enjoy it this year - but it will definitely be firmly on the ground until later this fall, I'm afraid.

Radiator build
The unusual C.II radiator was built by shaping the shell from spruce and then glued to an aluminum mounting plate. The interior tubes are 1" lengths of coffee stirrers ( many pieces of which I'll be finding in the corners of the living room for years - they tend to fly in every direction when cut) and glued in place. The outside grill, front and back is window screening "squashed" side to side to lend a diamond shape to the holes. 1/16" aluminum round is bent and glued to contain the wire mesh. The valves were assembled from aluminum tube and miniature hex nuts and glued in place.

Thanks again WF2. Most of the details I plan to install are complete. I have a few more items of interest to get into the cockpit this winter. I have only just begun on the gun mount assy and gun ring in the rear cockpit and no parts are installed. So after Rhinebeck, I need to finish the working muffler and get it in the air so the model can become a plane.
Right now it looks as though Sat at Rhinebeck will be a washout but Sun looks good if the wind lets up for those flying. In any case we'll be camping nearby and will get to the Aerodrome whenever the weather permits.
I'll see you this weekend. It will be great to meet some of those who have shown an interest and been so supportive during the past few years.

Off to Rhinebeck
Well, that's it. I've run out of steam and time and have to get packing for a weekend at Rhinebeck, NY. I was able to get most of the outside details on, though some were very rushed. Regardless, I've promised friends, family and myself that it would be in NY this weekend and the only major shortcoming is that it won't yet fly. We'll have a blast anyway and we'll be airborn next year!
See all that can make it this weekend.

Hi Vern,
Sorry I missed you at Rhinebeck, see you made it for Sunday.
I hung around your model off-an-on throughout the day hoping to meet you but we kept missing each other.
Anyway, she looks better in person then the photos, really great job and details. Hope to see her fly next year!

Thanks ZZ for the comments. It's good to see that WF2 picked the starboard side to shoot although missing a turnbuckle (in transit) - I later found that most the day, I had a rigging wire crossed on the port side - (oh NOOooo!) Sunday was a gorgeous day to be in Rhinebeck. I do wish I could have flown with the rest of the gang. Now on to the work of the muffler.
