How to build a scale Etrich Taube wing.

I've decided on building a R/C 1/6 scale Etrich Taube as my winter project. If anyone has any ideas on how to construct the scale wing warping wing used by this aircraft I'd love to know.

I hate reinventing the wheel.

Thanks

Hi Johnnyboy,
I've got a copy of "Taube, Dove of War" by Col. Joihn A. deVries (1978). It has some very nice drawings, but no details on how the wing warping was hooked up, at least none that I recall. However, there is a nice section on construction that's interesting, but liitle help on those details It does appear to be far more complex than say for the Fokker Eindecker. I don't think it's in print anymore, but a bookseller such as Byrd Aviation Books might be able to locate a copy.

Wink The OWLS HEAD museum in MAINE has an accurate FLYING Taube repro...!

Dear Johnnyboy201:

The PIPE here again...and IF you check at...

1913 ETRICH TAUBE (Replica)

...there's a "brief" piece there about a FLYABLE reproduction of the immediate pre-war (1912-13) era design of the Etrich Taube, which DOES have fully original style wing warping on the wingtips...up at the Owls Head Museum of Transportation on the rocky coast of Maine!

I suppose, IF you get in contact with them (main website is at Welcome to the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Celebrating Transportation History for 30 Years ) you COULD get some help on your Etrich Taube project...one fact that IS known about the rear sections of the wing ribs on the full-sized one, is that the MUCH more modern innovation of CARBON FIBER material had to be used to allow the wing tips to warp properly... as they said themselves, "as smooth as roller bearings"...

...hope this helped !!!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!
