John, the ribbon actually goes on after the rib caps and wraps around them. Here's the ribbon I will be using and it is 7mm wide. Go to this web site and you'll see how it was done on the full scale Aviatik D1

Just wanted to see it with the wing in place. Still lots to do with the wing. I am figuring out how to make the strut attachment points now. Decided not to use the carbon arrow shafts for the L/E because the ribs were not originally cut for them and it would have been a lot of work to adapt them. I am using shaped SIG, balsa 1/2"x3/8" leading edge.

Thumbs up

WOW! What a great job and cool plane. Very nice. Interesting comparsion, the thin wing section of her to the Fokker D.vIII. Similar to the MS A-1 design.

Hope your going to ORA this year. She will be a sure winner there.

Cheers,
WF2

Doc, Unfortunately, I did not take step by step photo's. Just made the instruments out of bits and pieces of balsa and dowel a wood bead for the crank and a couple of brass screws. Cut out the drawings and glued the faces on. Sprayed them with clear coat. Did not use paint. I used a black Sharpie instead. Oh, I tapered the mag. crank arm by putting the dowel in my drill press and held a sanding block to it until I got the shape I needed.

Next I'll make the pump handles/shafts. Here's what they will look like. Thanks Koloman for the photo.
