After a few hours work and looking at photo's and drawings over and over again this is how I have made the tail skid. I glued a couple of pieces of 5/16" lite ply together and just sanded and filed away. The fin is bass wood and hard dowl covered with 1/64 ply laminate.

Hi Dave, Not sure that is gonna be the final shape of the tail skid. Have to see if Koloman comes up with anything much different. Any progress on that Fokker?

hallo john,
looked through my aviatik fotos but there is nothing more. i have nearly a dozen of pictures from testing aviatik planes in aspern vienna but no picture show any details of the tail.
there is a good sketch how the skid and fin is constructed in windsock datafile about the DI from a british report made from a captured plane.
my scanner do not work at the moment.wiil pm you a scan of that page next week.

Hi Koloman, Don't mean to take up a lot of your time with this. I appreciate whatever you dig up. Cheers.

This is how I decided to make the bungee set up. I found some aluminum nails that work well I think. Hope my wife won't miss them the next time she bakes potato's I'll use JB Weld to glue the nails in and to the sheet aluminum bracket. Of course the nails will be reinforced from the inside as well.

Working on the l/g using GTM method with aluminum struts and 3/16' piano wire JB Welded in. I'll add a cross bar once I have the struts in position. I'll be brazing a loop onto the piano wire lower leg which will also serve as the bungee posts before they get JB Welded into the struts.

Had to stick the cowl on. Fritz dropped in to try out the cockpit. No full cockpit in this one just instrument panel and Schwarzlose guns. Trying to keep it simple.

Okay, she's up on the wheels. Got the servo's figured out and the fuel tank going in. I am using a Dubro 32oz. tank. I made straps out of 18 gauge steel to hold the tank in. Using Great Planes aluminum servo arms. I will paint the wheel covers with iron cross but I'm deciding if I should cover them with fabric first.
