John, very tidy installation of the servos and tank. It's gonna be a show stopper.

Thanks folks, Trying to make sure it will be balanced well both on the ground and in the air. I think it will get airborn pretty quick and I don't want it to get sideways on landings and hit a wing tip. Worse yet nose over and break a lot of props. Shouldn't have to add any weight up front.

I am not sure how much going the gas/glow route on your Briggs will effect your fuel consumption, but on straight gas a Briggs 40cc with a 32 oz. tank would let you fly for a couple of hours.

As always, exceptional workmanship!

Thanks J, I figured 32oz was overkill but it allows me to add weight to the nose if need be. It will be interesting to see how much fuel is really used. Hope to get the fuselage done soon and then it's back to the SE5 for awhile.

Had to see how the wheel covers would look. The backs will be the same color as the underside of the wing. I have to get the tail feathers done now so I can run the cables and close up the fuselage. I made the fin today. Tail post is a 5/16" arrow shaft. I'll be using GTM scale hinges. Leading edge of rudder will also be 5/16" carbon arrow shaft. Fin is laminated 1/16" bass wood sheet and 5/16" balsa sticks which will be sheeted with 1/8" balsa.

Thumbs up

Looking awesome! How are you doing the wings?

She looks tricky for ground handling with that high gear. Maybe the RL one had that issue?

Hi DJ, I figured that was coming sooner or later. WF2, It's a parasol and the wing will be one piece but I'll build it a half at a time and join the halves. I don't think it will be much different on the ground than a Fokker D VIII or Morane A1 parasol. I know it looks like it is sitting high on the gear but I think it's because of the size of the fuselage. The gear legs are about 13" long. I don't know what they measure on a 1/3 scale D VIII or other model. I am keeping the weight as low as possible in the fuselage. We'll see what happens. The full scale could not have been bad. It was lack of adequate oil or lubricant for the engine that kept it out of production.
