Thanks, Jan, but could you give me the link for that? I looked through your posts but was unable to find it.

There are some pics on the RC Universe forum, that you can get some ideas from.

Here's what I've done the past couple of weeks...

Left side in place, minus the under wing panel.

Right side minus panels 2 & 3.

Three cylinders cut & mounted with 3 to go. I bought the Maxford dummy motor then decided to modify it to fit closer to Kay's original mounting. It's going to be quite the exercise cutting the cowling then making it work with the dummy engine.

I are number one...at gluing my finger! The tip on my high flow went bad so I tried the one from my gap filling bottle. It didn't fit right and the adhesive got around the cap.

After cutting the colwing off I plan to make a floor across the inside to mount the dummy to. I hope to have decent access to the receiver & motor by doing it this way.

Feeling the need for a progress image...

So this session started with some details. I got my hands on a copy of Wind-Sock Datafiles so I thought I'd "accurize" a bit. If you take a look back the original structure of the rudder was straight. I'd made new ones & added the top angled piece. I'm debating whether or not to narrow the upright a bit.

I then added the angled braces to the elevator.

Then moved back to plywood. I'd stained in front of the cockpit, at least it won't be a major issue to paint over, & put the first coat on the mid line panels.

The green paint made it a bit easier to follow the cowling line...

...which gave me some more clean up to do.

I've gotten to cleaning up the inside of the cowl & replacing all the bits that came off the side bulkheads. I was thinking of neo magnets in the ring cowl to hold the front end down. I've tabbed the back edge to keep that in place. Also, I think I should make some wedges to brace the cabane block...

Added more panel lines...

then worked the dummy engine to fit...

and outlined the cowl for later cutting.

So, the progress so far. Wide shot to show the grain & panel lines. I'm going to, now, make the
functional tail skid I was thinking about & should have done long before this point.

Close up of motor & dummy prior to getting both situated fully. The firewall still needs some work
to get the thrust lines right.

Closer look at the dummy from side...

& top. The theory is to attach the guide dowl of the dummy to the cowling & glue the forward
cylinder to what's left of the firewall. It should give some stability to the cowl and, if needed
after balancing, come off as a unit.

Cowl in need of a bit of filler...

& a bit more internal structure.

I'm still a bit worried on the power front. I guess I'll have to wait till it's finished to really calculate
but this set up should allow me to replace the motor & ESC if I really need to. Currently the set up
is 18 A ESC, 370 geared motor, & 2S 1300 MaH battery. Does that sound like it'll work? Got to find
a scale somewhere....

What's your AUW? Figure 75 W per pound for scale flight with some extra for getting out of trouble. I'm wondering of your battery might be on the small side at 2S.

Thank you for the basic formula FA. I'll have to get the fabric for the wings (was thinking of Arizona's Lozenge (anyone with experience with it))
& track down a scale. I don't think my bathroom one is sensitive enough to tell me.
I am feeling a bit better about balance as, without wings, she's currently balanced about mid cockpit.

Question Wings incidences ?

Hi, I'm building from a Bob Hutton drawing an Albatross DVa 1/4 scale, much bigger than yours. Anyway, the drawing I have lacks of many important details and is not clear about wing incidences ... and I'm not convinced too.

Any info about tail plane incidence (referred to 0 fuselage line) and wings incidence from tail plane (if it's not 0°) and fuselage 0° datum line ?

Thank you very much,
Kind regards,
Denis Ferrari - Italy
