Farman III scratchbuilt

I thought I'd say hi to you folks, I've been a long time lurker and have finally registered since you've provided a lot of help for me in the past, Here's my 36" ws Farman boxkite slow flyer It's powered by an IPS motor and has 3 axis controls. The controls are all originating from a working joystick and rudderbar. through servos beneath the seat area.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing

Hey, That's pretty neat!

Gotta love those R/C pioneers.
How about some static photos and some info on the build?

Salute,
Steve

A thing of beauty, Sir! Congratulations are in order. It is really wonderful to see a model like this up in the air.

I second the request for some 'at rest' pictures showing more of the structure.

Thank you for sharing this!

Thank you for the compliments. you guys are kind.

I'll track down some photos of me holding it, I have to say I'm not really photogenic and the model isn't exactly scale, sort of stand off and squint scale.

I didn't log a build along with this one, I just sat down one evening and started to cut and steam bend the ribs for the monster. I had an idea about what I wanted to make, as it's a cross between the 1911 Military Flyer and the similar endurance version, except without the dihedral in the lower wing set. The drawings I used are from the Early Aircraft Drawings 1911-1919 CD. Eventually there will be a Gnome Omega spinning on the back of the prop, and I need to make a oil and fuel tank set to complete it.

I know this website's forum tends to interest more of the WWI scale but most of my models are pre WWI models. They also tend to be smaller 1/12" scale miniatures. I've also got an AVRO type "F" and an AVRO 511 Arrowscout.

Cheers and thanks!

She is a thing of beauty, Lewis! How did you run all of that rigging? That had to have been quite a load of work!
