1/3rd Scale Albatros DIII

This is my Albatros DIII, based on the plan by Dave Johnson, taken on one of the test flights last week.

It has a straight Zenoah 62 for power but could do with a little more, hopefully as it runs in, it will get better.

Ausgezeichnet! Neat solution to the exhaust routing. Speed looks very scale in the air....................John

Hi RCFANUK. Beautiful job! How do you have it proped?? The power should come up as it breaks in. Do you like the handling?? What does it weigh??

Dave, she's currently running a 24 x 8, and handles beautifully, very responsive and turns well using rudder then feeding in some aileron.

I haven't weighed her but guess she must be around the 36lb mark, still slightly nose heavy but no major issues.

It will be her first public display this weekend at Duxford with the Large Model Association, as part of the UK's Dawn Patrol.

Perhaps a bit heavier than mine (32.9lb). Once your motor comes up a bit, try a slightly bigger prop and you will be amazed at how it grooves. I ended up using (except for FAI where I need more power) a 28-8 and it was amazing how it handled. I can't play your video until I get home and can't wait!

Thanks Dave, apologies for the landing, but very little wind and too slow, but I'll get used to it.

Ref the 28 x 8 was that on a Z62?
