2009 Ohio Dawn Patrol Pics

Last weekend's Ohio Dawn Patrol (2nd annual) was great. You couldn't ask for better weather all in all (a bit windy Friday though). Given the current economic situation, the fact that the attendance was comparable to last year says something. The Cincinnati Aeromodelers put of one great event!

Art Shelton flew his brand new 1/3 scale Nieuport 17 for the first time on Thursday PM (before the official opening of the event on Sat.) As you can see he still has the final detail work to do.

Joe Westrich flying his GTM 1/3 Fokker DVI

Another maiden flight before the event (Friday evening) was Dale Cavin's (Bookmaker) beautiful BUSA 1/4 DVIII

Unfortunately, due to a number of contributing factors, the plane was lost on this brief flight. Really sorry to see that happen. It is repairable though, and Dale says it'll go on a diet!

Another Dr1 in Josef Jacob's livery was this GTM 1/3 scale.

Lee McDuffe (Winterhawk's) GP Dr1.

I'm not as good as I should be about getting names, sorry. Most of these won't have a lot of info with the pics.

Fantastic 1/3 DH2. This and the previous 1/3 Dr1 were from Florida.

Doug Bailey readies his 1/3 DVII. Paul Westrich's ex machine.

This Dr1 was done in the markings of the Dr1 replica in the AF Museum.

Oops! Too much smoke oil in the fuel system.

Somebodys beat up Fokker EIV.

This huge electric Gotha G.V was sure impressive.

Dave Johnson had raced to get this 1/3 DVII ready for the event.

That's Mark Enderby of BUSA (with the spiked helmet) assisting Dave with some tweaking of the DVII. Anyone who helps Dave has to wear that helmet.

A really sharp DH1a. This one was 1/4 scale I think.

BUSA's huge 1/4 DH4. Wow!

Dave Johnson and Mark Enderby again. Apparently Mark just likes the helmet. Mark's flying the DH4.

That wonderful DH2 again.

Really impressive was Mark (?) 3seabees Bleriot ARF. Neat! Powered with a 3 cylinder radial to boot.
