Covered the fuselage and ran in the engine on a test stand and it's not 2:00 PM yet. I may make it!

Go John go! Interesting looking beast. It was a racing plane wasn't it?

Yes it was. Took second place in the 1913 Bennett Cup.Today I got the clear coat on the fabric and now after this it is all bolting things together, plus doing the rigging. This is my first plane with wing-warping so it should be a hoot.

Well, I finished up working on it around 5PM on Friday.I shoveled all my stuff(except for various things I forgot) into my van. Took off from the Seattle area @11PM and got to the site in Kellogg @ 5:30AM. I was such a zombie I didn't even fly my big black Fokker until afternoon. The good news is the Ponnier flew nicely until the engine quit.It landed off field but with no damage. I think it is a fuel tank problem but i will have to do a full investigation.

J
PS: I flew the DVII with the Stihl 65cc four-stroke. It was awesome!! Sounds like a Triumph or any other single-cylinder thumper.A nice fast cruise at @ 1/2 throttle. Hope to have video in a week or two.

Congratulations! It's good to have vindication without damage. Nicely done model of a rare subject. Could you get in flight images of both your machines?

I'll have to check with some of my buddies. One of the many things I forgot to pack was the charger for my camera and of course the batteries were dead. Every year I vow to be more prepared for "next year" but I always seem to end up running around at the last minute.

*chuckles* Yeah, that sounds quite familiar. I hope to remember mine, with a charged battery, when I get to the point you're at.
