Blue Max update for fall, 2009:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Friday 9 Oct 09 Mike Celeskey and John Olson participated in a very productive meeting with the Fantasy of Flight museum marketing staff, events coordinator, and the operations manager, who is also a registered AMA Contest Director . Within the next few weeks Blue Max will get the featured “top of the fold” spot on their website ( Fantasy of Flight, World's Greatest Aircraft Collection ). We will shortly cross link our websites within each others so that Fantasy of Flight readers can be routed directly to the Blue Max website ( Home Page ) and vice versa. They have produced an attractive small marketing insert with an eye catching Blue Max logo to be inserted into various mailers, as well as to be handed out at the assorted events we attend ,such as Frank Tiano’s Monster Scale at the Lake Wales, FL airport at the end of this week. Steve Thomas, the importer of Xoar props, is planning on including the insert with all WW1 props sold.

Soon the Fantasy of Flight website will contain a downloadable registration form for either online or snail mail submission. The $40.00 entry fee can be paid online at the time of registration. Each registrant will be permitted one guest/pilot/pit crew with the entry fee. Fantasy of Flight is providing one of their large hangars for static judging and we will hold our awards banquet in their large meeting/banquet room adjacent to one of their display hangars. The contest flying will be conducted in sight of, but safely away from the expected crowd of museum goers and spectators out in the front of the main display hangar A separate large open field with an onsite lake will be available for open flying from Thursday through Saturday evening. Primitive camping will be located near this venue, as will be the vendors booths and food service. Many of the museum’s WW1 machines will be placed on display on the apron out in front of the museum and a VERY special midday flying show is being developed for possible production (think dogfight)!

It is exciting to see the level of enthusiasm that Fantasy of Flight has for making this one of the premier events on the annual contest calender. We have a joint interest in the success of Blue Max as it will be a huge attraction for their customer base of aviation enthusiasts, and the museum should be on the bucket list of every RC modeler.

We have an additional meeting scheduled with them in November to finalize the logistics and technical matters. ( sound system, flight line operation, etc.) and expect Ron Prestin to have significant input. Keep visiting this thread continued updating as we progress and/or to pose any questions you may have.

Get your flight routine in shape by practicing at The Southern Dawn Patrol at Hodges Hobbies field near Anderson GA in December!

We will soon be developing a pool of static and flight judges, so anyone with an interest in participating should contact any of the three of us by PM or email……………..Mike Celeskey, Ron Prestin, John Olson
