Resting in pieces!

I hope you rebuild it. I followed your rebuild on RCSB, and it is a fantastic model.

Now the Observation Balloon shoot down with flaming balloons, now that's clever!

Full size or model size?

It was 1 inch to the foot scale. it was 19 ft long and little over 7 ft tall. we filled a ton of balloons but ran out of helium. there was room for ton more balloons and woulda made it better next time will have more juice.

went through a full bottle of helium the size of an oxygen bottle for acetelene welding

That was really awesome! I was telling my wife at the time that it would be cool to have yellow and red balloons come out to make it look like fire and, sure enough, that's what they were!
I hope you will do that again next time. I would also be happy to help defray the cost.

Jim

Thanks Jim.

I also agree the balloon was a real addition to the event.

When they were first trying to get the balloon to fly, I noticed the seam along the back, but didn't realize the purpose was to have it "explode". I really didn't realize what was going on while we were making passes at it. I was too busy trying to pop the balloons before they went back over the dead line.

The photos posted of the balloon going down in "flames" with the planes overhead are great.

Joe, what program is required to open your photos album? My system doesn't recognize the format.

Dale

That baloon display was one of the most innovative and original ideas I've ever seen. The best part is ....its reusable!!! It can be "destroyed" over and over. Really neat!!

Take that idea "on the road".

dale they are rar files its what most ppl have gone to instead of zip as the compression factor is much greater. goto WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files and download winrar you can get rid of any other zipping programs after that as it does all formats of compression for unarchiving

Loening

I like the spin on the Loening float plane it is very well done. Not that it matters but for those who may be interested here are a few photo's of the real one. Photo's are courtesy of Colin Owers.
