Good to see it coming back together Dale! It was not pleasant seeing it go in. Cowl's going to need a little work. Just get out your hammer and picture the dude who shot you down.

Hi guys,
For anyone who may need it--or want to give a look--the place I mentioned earlier that sells ready made rib stitching on the roll is called CABLEROCKET--Google under Cablerocket rib stitching and it's top of the list.

Sorry--I don't know how to put up a link----dummy with computers.

Dave.

Hi Dave,
It's actually called "Scale Rib Stitch" (Cable Rocket is the web provider I think)
Here's a link. Scale Rib Stitch*

It's a nice product. I've used it on three projects so far, and will use it on my 1/4 scale Albatros DIII (which I've promised my self to get started on...for the last 3 winters).

Mike

Thanks Mike----I used an old method whereby you glue thread runs across fabric with clear dope--then cut into thin strips---you probably know what i mean---although actually tearing strips off solartex gave a nice slightly frayed edge I always thought...

Hi Mike. The cowl is a writeoff. The metal is ripped pretty bad. I already have a new one on hand. No need to beat on the guy who turned on his radio. It was just one of those things that happen.

Dave, I started to add the vertical members on the side of the fuse and ran into numerous problems. I think it will just have to go without them. Heck, it's gone without them for 10-15 years.

Rose and I spent the entire day today working in the yard so no work on the Pup today, and probably not this evening.

I may start on wing repairs tomorrow.

Dale

I just finished cutting several holes in the wings for access to the damaged areas. It's slightly more than I anticipated, but repairable. However, it's very depressing to look at.

Here are the basics:

Upper Starboard - one interplane strut blade pulled out - root rib cracked loose where rear alignment dowel enters and sheeting broken - wing rib next to aileron broken

Upper port - one interplane strut blade pulled out - root rib broken out where front alignment dowel enters

Lower Starboard - front interplane strut blade broken out - rear blade pulled out - tip bow broken at center splice

Lower port - forward interplane strut blade broken out, rear blade loose - inter-aileron connector horn broken off - root rib cracked at rear dowel

With the exception of the blades that just pulled out or is loose, each item above required a hole cut in the wings and requires a patch

But remember that B7575 (I think that's her) on Home Establishment would have been 'knocked around a bit'---so some patches will be quite permissable.

cheers,
Dave.

Yes, that its the correct aircraft number, and yes I suspect you are correct that the original had plenty of patches as well.
