I've spent a while this afternoon and evening fitting broken pieces back together on the wings and replacing sheeting where needed. It's like working a jigsaw puzzle that the pieces were torn apart rather than cut.
Slow but moving along.

I've made most structural repairs to the wings. Should start making fabric patches in the next day or so.
Below are a few photos of about 1/2 of the repaired areas.

Hi Dale,
They look like good solid repairs-----down the years I (I suppose all of us) have had 're-kitted models in bags' after bad crashes.
If I were you when patching I would run full chord between relevant rib stitches--the effect is somewhat better because it's not so obvious-----kick me if you've already decided that...
Coming back though mate---that's what counts.
Dave.

Basically, I agree with the full cord, however, with the black and white, the splice can be run to the color line and it is nearly impossible to see. There are several patches like that already and even I have to look for them.
The bottom of the wing is a little different.
Dale

It's always a heart wrencher when a plane gets broke. When I first started out I was just as likely to chuck the whole works, thinking it might be easier to start over. Then, I found if I stripped it down to where I could start on a rebuild and put the airplane aside, somewhere out of site and let it sit for a time, I was much more interested in repairing it. Now, I still set it aside for a while; but, I know I will have a good time repairing the airplane. I find repairing almost more enjoyable then building, as the challenges of how to go about it, are fun to surmount.

Agreed, mostly. The last two that went in, the Fokker E.V on its first flight and this Pup, came close to hitting the trash can. But as you said, after looking at them more closely, they both deserve another day to fly.
I don't know that I can go as far as saying that rebuilding is "almost more enjoyable than building..." however.
I hope to get the Pup's wings and fuselage recovered this weekend.

Hi Dale! Nice seeing you here. I just joined, what a great website.
I hadn't seen the extent of your Pup's damage. Wow, hang in there with the repairs. I know it will be better than before when it's finished.

Hi John. Yes it got banged up pretty good. I hoped to work on it today, but other things got in the way. Tomorrow is set aside for the Pup. I hope to get most of the covering back on.
There are a lot more photos over at RCSB in the "1/3 Scale Pup - Ouch" thread, near the end of the thread. The first two "incidents" make up the earlier part of that thread

The wings are all patched (except upper center section) and ready for paint.
I was hoping I could get it back flying by Southern Dawn Patrol, but there are just too many things left to do and I have too many other committments for then next week. It will be ready by next season however.
It doesn't show very well, but the attached photo is an example of a repair with stitching and tape applied.

I think that once repairs are complete, YOU will be the only one who knows.
Great work, and have a safe and warm holiday.
