Right you are---but I always considered that book most authoritative?

Anyway--in any event--the point I was making was simply that Proctor scale bit's are just superb---and their wheels even more so....

Cheers,
Dave.

NASM book

It is a great book, but people being people, printed errors and considering what has happened around the world in numerous museums ...& in this particular case of the Dva having mixed wheels...who could say for sure without secondary confirmation.

Despite not having seen procters tyres Im guessing that they were inspired by the NASM rebuild? Theres many a photo of Albatros that shows no 'shadow or sign of the bolt heads. Ive spent a few years trying to chase down half truths regards the dva. Id love to know to sure myself.

Hi Chris,

But we must accept something kept them on! Whilst I agree that Albatros D1--11 and 111 show no OBVIOUS signs (and some superficial signs of fabric covers) Dv photos clearly show them. (page 19 Jasta 5 vol/2 Windsock) and artwork (sometimes)

I am not 100% in disagreement Chris---and like you feel others will know with certainty---but I won't discount the NASM book out of hand---it has to be treat with respect (if only 'cos my copy is falling to bits!

Cheers,
Dave.

NASM book

I hope they used better glue in thier restorations, mine fell to pieces as I opened it for the first time!

I use the nasm book everyday in my build and probably wouldnt have been able to begin building without it. One just needs to be careful drawing "absolute" conclusions based on evidence that is less than complete.
Yes something held the covers on, but it just doesnt seem right to me for them to use such large bolts when so many weight saving efforts went into action elsewhere. Im happy to know for "sure" either way...
The undercarriage isnt too far off now.

This is few months old and shows the skinning process, but it now looks almost the same again after I had to remove the entire port side to fix a buckle in the skin...sigh.
