Wink New WW I RC flight video from Poland (I think)...

Dear Fellow WW I RC Flyin' Fans:

The PIPE Here again...and a recent message over in the Yahoo RC Dawn patrol group had a link to what seems like a well-done attempt to bring a little bit of WW I aviation in miniature back to life, over in Poland at an RC field over there...

...looks a "little bit Old Rhinebeck", and with what SEEM to be 1/3rd scale aircraft in the "aerial action"...or are those 1/4th scale instead???

Anyway, hope this video's an enjoyable one...

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Very cool video. I like the variety of subjects, and it's nice to see Dawn Patrols are the same all over the world (although the musical instruments remind me of the Australian Outback.)

BTW,

I think this video might be Czechoslovakian, and they are 1/3 scale models.

In a recent Flying Scale Models magazine (out of Great Britain) there was an article about a Dawn Patrol group over there, doing demo flights at public functions. Requisite to being a member of this group/club/?, is a 1/3rd scale model which is highly detailed and from the Great War. Makes me wonder if there isn't some type of international organization going on.

That was better than Rhinebeck!!! They only fly a couple planes at a time there. It was amazing to see so many planes airborne at once. Those men really have their act together to fly in such crowded conditions with no collisions. Thanks for the great video.

Details of the UK Dawn Patrol group can be found here: Dawn Patrol

The group's aim is to produce a wide range of high quality 1/3 scale radio controlled models of the significant designs used by the Allies and Central Powers during the 1914 - 1918 war.

I, for my sins, am building the Sopwith Triplane of Ace, Captain Bob Little which hopefully will fly with the group next year (there's a lot of wing panels to build!)

A couple of examples of models already flying in the group are this Sopwith Camel and this Fokker DVI

One of the gentlemen in the 2nd video (piloting the Sopwith Tabloid) mentioned in a rc building thread that the scale is 1.2.8 I think that`s a bit larger than 1/3 he is building a similar Nieuport 11(electric power) has pics of it here: (Slovac to English translation) Google Translate seems very talented in his building.
