Held July 20,21st. Once again, a first class event. Kudos to all involved! The Cincinnati Aeromdelers are fantastic hosts, and I can't thank you enough for your gracious hospitality and get well "pass".

Here are a few photos from Saturday:


Gary Denzler had a couple of great flights with his magnificent 1/2 scale (?) Demoiselle.


1/2 scale Nieuport 11 was pretty damn cool.


Jim Suchy's 1/3 SSWD3 was spectacular.

Sam Parfitt's 1/3 Nieuport 17. I just love the Italian markings. I hope it can be resurrected Sam.


And perhaps my personal favorite, this wonderful 1/3 Sopwith Triplane from Andy Marone.

Kieth Zimmerly's 1/2 scale N11


This nice 1922 Farman (something or other) received a special dispensation to join the WW1 and pre-war fliers.


Right after this I was dancing to get out of the way.


Barry Vogel's really sharp SSWDIII prepares for it's flight with Jim Suchy on the sticks.

Barry's SSWDIII lost a wheel during the flight.



Jim did a great job on the landing all things considered. I think he just likes standing planes on their nose. Thankfully only minor damage. Prop wasn't even broken.

That's about it. Only a fraction of the aircraft in attendance. I'll be honest, typically I'm not so inclined to take photos unless the lighting is favorable, so I do miss catching some great looking aircraft sometimes. Quality vs. Quantity. Call me a photo snob I guess.

No, the next Ohio Dawn Patrol will be in 2013 (as far as I've heard). The Dawn Patrol Rendezvous, sponsored by the Great War Aeroplane Association, will be held in 2014 at Dayton. The ODP is RC only. Confusing a bit huh?
