Dear Vic,
If you go to the link below, you should be able to download a demo (but it is over 80 megabytes... Good Christ, a demo that large-- Zeppelinware?); perhaps that will satisfy your morbid curiousity!
From the look of it, it doesn't look that bad (or that good)-- it's just the word that it uses, "arcade", that gets my wind up... does anyone remember "Aces of WW1", by that Polish company (not bad graphics and a nice sun effect, but without a cockpit view, impossible to play&#33.
Hope this is of some use: www.city-interactive.com

Thanks Captn.

Just saw it in a bookstore the other day. RB 3D is getting a bit long in the tooth and I do need something to satisfy my WW1 flightsim craving. At this stage nothing can compare to the old girl and I think it is high time that I get my grubby paws on a decent ww1 flightsim

VBR
Vic.

Hi Vic,

I wouldn't bother if I were you! It's a masterpiece of understatement to say that recreating every detail of WW1 aviation was low down on the developer's list....

Aside from the glaring historical innacuracies there is no view other than directly ahead i.e you can't look left or right. And the flight model is awful. It's nothing more than a basic arcade shooter....

One PC mag described it thus;
"Stick goes forward, houses get bigger - stick goes back, houses get smaller. That, dear reader, is Wings of Honour summed up in 12 words. And it's about as exciting as it gets. As a WW1 flight sim, Wings of Honour falls down on almost every level."

Still, at least they can spell honour correctly, eh? One day someone will develop a good WW1 flight sim...I hope!

Hi Vic,
"RB 3D is getting a bit long in the tooth"
As originally released by Sierra, yes.
As modified by the RB3d community, no.
Graphics, aircraft, FMs and DMs, AI, terrain have all been remodeled to the point that the game now only resembles the original in name only. There are three major UOPs, each with a different emphasis, and scores of other improvements. Here are the sites to start investigating:
Hells Angels (new version Tuesday or so)
http://www.jamrom.com/hellsangels/main.htm
Western Front Patch (new version towards end of week)

Full Canvas Jacket
