As CaptainLewis was saying, Full Canvas Jacket is a Red Baron patch put out by Promised Land. It has improved flight models, improved historical accuracy and MUCH improved graphics. You would hardly recognize it as the same game if you were to get it. It costs $28 (USD) but I think it is more than worth it. (I sound like I work for Promised Land, don't I? But I am actually just a very appreciative customer....bought it about 2 months ago and love it!

. Go to their website and check it out. You will be amazed!
For the best graphics, you'll need a decent graphics card and a software program called a glide wrapper since the 3d portion of Red Baron was written in glide for the old Voodoo cards. The glide wrapper software is downloaded for free and there are lots of discussions on Delphi Forums that will help you set the wrappers software correctly (I can probably help you there, too...but the real knowledge is available on Delphi...you have to register to read the forums but it is free, also, and there are quite a few people there who are very helpful! I had to use their knowledge to get my system running Full Canvas Jacket properly.
As for your joystick issue, if this is a USB joystick, you could try unplugging it and then loading RB, Once the game is loaded, plug it back in again and see if that works. Red Baron came out before USB joysticks were as common as they are now and it doesn't like them! Gets them confused with the games sound somehow if I recall correctly. If the unplugging/plugging back in procedure works, then you will probably be a candidate for downloading some of the software fixes for this so you don't have to keep unplugging/replugging the joystick in! I am assuming that your operating system has the same issues that Windows XP has with Red Baron but the problems can be corrected with some tweaking.
