It looked really promising, but I have not been there in quite awhile.
The forum is still quite active, though.

Here is the url;
http://www.wingswithwires.com/

Is anyone here knowledgable about this sim?

TIA,
Stephen

I have ben visiting this site for a couple of years hoping something would develop. Unfortunately it seems obvious they have thrown in the towel. Looks like "Knights over Europe" will be the flight sim. that brings WW1 aviation to the next virtual level.

Thanks, I got that same impression. Too bad, they really did a lot of work,
too.

Oh well, at least there is something waiting in the wings.

ok, Let me get some things straight here :

Birds of prey is NOT ( repeat NOT ) dead !
There is a lot of work done behind the scenes .
Fact is that things go a lot slower than anticipated at first.
Most people on the WWW forum are waiting on updates just like you but we were told to be patient and to have faith...
It may be quiet now but something tells me that thigs are going to change ...

Who Am I to tell you all this ? Well I'm a member of the WW W forum for 2 years know and I 've never been on a forum so much alive as the WWW forum... I made some very good friends there !!!

All may be quiet on the front but it is the calm before the storm

I have to agree with Bluedevil, but can also share my disappointment at the slow pace of the Birds of Prey development process!

Game development by WWW does go forward though, however at a pace closer to what we might expect from sim hobbyist, rather than by a full-fledged software developer, but then that's to be expected since the sim is being created by part-time "employees" working in their spare time.

Having been on the WWW forum forever, I've learned to be patient beyond my usual ability, and to a degree this has put me in good standing for waiting on Knights Over Europe too, of which updates have been far and few between..............it seems to come with the territory!

I truly believe that the team behind BoP want their work to reach the light of day someday, and I still think they carry the passion for their project to see their work through, but when BoP will be done is anybody's guess!

The good thing is that KOE seems to be moving along as announced, and we'll have it to satisfy our great desires for something new in the WWI sim world to experience in the not too distant future!

BoP still exist in a realm beyond guessing when it may arrive, but work does still continue, and I can say this with 100% certainty! B)

This project has been in the works for a long time now. I worry that the sim may be technically dated by the time it gets released. Not knowing how much they fixed, changed and or re worked the open plane engine makes it hard to say but how long can the work remain viable in todays market.

Having known some of the WWW team I would hate to see their work get passed by and hope to enjoy the outcome. I wish them the best of luck.

I don't think we have a thing to worry about. I've seen the other side and it is good. Keep the faith and know enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm. And considering the shear volume of work shown on their site alone, I seriously doubt they would simply quit.
