Playing RB3D using HA mod....

Wow what a great game when it is maxed out with mods etc. Using Hells Angles mod...http://www.jamrom.com/hellsangels/

Above screen shot shows me in my Pfalz escorting a Gotha. I am the little black plane above the Gotha. Flak is trying to put us off a bit. Mission was a success. Gothas bombed the warehouses while we in Jasta 40 keep the Camels occupied.

Hi

Looks nice.

Do you fly RB3D online? There's still a small but very enthusiastic community of online pilots who keep the game alive.

If you don't already know it, you'll need to get something called a 1078 patch to fly online. Let me know if you haven't got it and want it.

Regards

F

If you start shooting at someone, does it take a bunch of shots to bring him down?I want to know because on the Targetware RS,it takes almost all of your rounds of ammo to bring him down.

Hello ww1 ace,

yes, the damagemodell is a bit off. It takes to much well placed mg-bursts to bring an e/a down. It will never explode or burst into flames, most kills are due to pk's or a wing-failure after much of your amo has gone. The Patch is a very good improvement on the old standart game, with many new aces-colour shemes, bit the damagmodell is realy a bit strange.

Worth downloading all the time.

Greetings,

Robert

Hello Brotrob,
Practice Practice Practice!!! And follow Oswald Boelcke's sage advice "I fly up very close, take good aim, then he must fall down" Flamers are very possible, you just have to aim carefully. See screenies.....
cheers,

Hello

Oh. I just fly the normal RB3D online and it is perfectly possible to get flamed or "headed" with just a few bullets. I know - it happens to me all the time!

The RB damage model is an extremely simple thing compared to more modern sims. In the stock game you can easily shoot down eight or more aircraft with a single ammo load. The planes are made of tissue paper and fall apart at the slightest provocation. To compesate, the modified DMs were made more difficult. In some ways this is unrealistic, but the end results are pretty good. One kill is not at all hard and two kills are fairly routine for me. I sometimes manage as many as four in a mission.

It is possible to bring down an aircraft in RB with a single shot to the back of the pilots head. I usually bring my targets down through engine damage - they either conk out and make a crash landing or they burst into flames. The key is get close - very close - and aim for metal or meat.

Question

Forumites,
I was thinking of getting the FCJ add-on, but the HA mod looks good as well. Is it possible to use both without them having conflicts, or is it a case of using one or the other, but not both?
