Do you have a serial port joystick? Because I have never been able to get a USB joystick to work with any older game. Unfortunately, serial-port joysticks are becoming very hard to find.

Hi Blue Max,

I have both an old serial port stick and a wireless one. Both work with RB3D and all the other sims I've got - but still no luck with Flying Corps. The old stick used to work fine with FC. Is it just something about FC and XP?

Just discovered my problem-I hadn't set my USB joystick as the 'preferred' one for Win XP.

So... I have no idea how it might or might not interact with Flying Corps. I can't even get it to install on my system...

A Computer Ignoramus

Folks
Tell me in simple terms - will I be able to get "Flying Circus" original 1997 - to play on Windows ME? I bought it yesterday for £1 on a charity stall. Have I been robbed?
Or should that title be "A Computer Ignoramo" - there seem to be some Latin experts in this website!

I have WinME with Flying Corps Gold - and this combination works, but only if you use the DOS install option (when I used Win95 install I could get one mission out of it and then it would refuse to load next time). So far as I could see the DOS and Win95 versions were very similar, except that the DOS one would not recognise both throttle and rudder input from the joystick (had to choose one or the other). Not sure if the original Flying Corps will work on WinME, but try a DOS install if the Win95 one doesn't work (if the option is there: look on the disc - not available as a menu option). The flight model is challenging, more so than RB3D (as you would expect, being from the same stable as Rowan's BoB) so it is worth having a go.

Good luck!
