Saw this game in both Napealons and Tin Soldier yesterday here in Sydney. Both retailing for $60.

I wish this game had a solo play fearure.

The artwork is beautiful.

Of course Australian dollars. Official price in US dollar is 29.95, official price in Italy is 19.90 Euros.

The "WoW - Burning Drachens" set will be playable in solitaire, with trench strafing and balloon busting missions. An experimental solitaire scenario has been posted there:

Take it from someone who works in the PC game industry (again) that this is a top quality game. From what I have read on the net its great.

I love the use of cards. So much easier to learn and play compared to pages and pages in a rule book.

I bought the second box, "Watch your back", at a wargaming convention in my neighborhood.
The artwork is as astounding as it was in the first box and the fact that your adversary can now use a two-seater ads a new flavour to the game and the need to change your tactics.
My first dogfight against a two-seater made it painfully clear: the sting is in the tail .
This is a very nice supplement to the original game and I can hardly wait to get the next expansion especially after seeing the artwork your link referred to.
I was wondering about the "blisters " :will they add completely new aircraft to the gaming system or are they just a means to add aircraft from one box to an other without having to buy the entire box?
It would be nice if they added complete new aircraft ( thus aircraft that are not in box 1,2 and 3 ) ...how about a Gotha for instance ?

Hello Bluedevil. Thanks a lot for getting my new game set! Besides, you got the real Blue Devil airplane in it, isn't it? The great Hanriot HD.1 with Coppen's elegant blue scheme.

The blisters will be of 70 cards each. Standard size. People asks for previously released decks and for new ones. The first ones to be able to fight with more than anaircraft of the same model on the same side without buying another set, or to depict duels as a Sopwith Triplane against a Dr.I (they use the same deck); the latter to increase the choice of models.

Gothas, Capronis and other multi-engine large bomers are in our mind, but we will probably have to make them on larger cards.

For the moment the plan is something like that:

WoW - Recce patrol (working title - suggestions welcome): probably due for fall 2005. Blister of 70 cards with the D maneuver deck (Dr.I and Sopwith Triplane), the K maneuver deck (several two seaters of different nationalities) and the A & B firing airplanes that use them. Compatible with all the three sets.

WoW - Top fighters (working title - suggestions welcome): probably due for fall 2005. Blister of 70 cards with the L maneuver deck (Fokker D.VII), the M maneuver deck (Sopwith Snipe, maybe SS D.III & SS D.IV) and the A firing airplanes that use them. Compatible with the FA and BD sets (you need an A damage deck and there is none in WyB!).

So you'll have 1 old deck (the most useful and asked for since it features two very popular airplanes of opposite sides) and 3 new ones.

You'll also find new airplane color schemes, so for example you will able to fly the Red Baron with his brother. If you'll buy a blister, you'll be able to play in six with just one box of the game (or in 4 with Burning Drachens, that's actually a 1/2 players set). You should also be able to find Belgian, French, German, Rumenian, Italian two seaters: so every nation will have at leas one of them (now you just have Austrian, British and American ones).

Anybody wanting to be updated about the game can join the Yahoo Discussion Group:

Bye and thanks!

Andrea

Thanks for explaining Angiolillo

"Besides, you got the real Blue Devil airplane in it, isn't it? The great Hanriot HD.1 with Coppen's elegant blue scheme"

My favorite

I 'm glad to see that there will be room for new aircraft and new colour schemes.

I really look forward to the new additions for the game

In some future blister I'd like to put his only machine that he fit with two MGs, from the 23rd to the 25th of october 1917 after which he abandoned them for a single 11mm Vickers MG with incendiary bullets. I have to check which one of his Hanriots it was... So Belgians could have a A firing Hanriot too. But we have time for that!

Bye bye,

A.

I've got his book... I'l try to see if I can dig anything up for you

Come to think of it ...there would be material enough to do a box about the early years of the war too : Blériots, Caudron, Taubes, Henri Farman 11 etc...
Or perhaps a blister with early machines ? ( just brainstorming )
