Help needed getting started please.

Hi there, this is my first post. I am looking for help in getting started in WW1 sims. It seems quite complex when reading through some of the threads. My system is XP (pent 4) and I'm looking for something that can offer good realism. Also, could someone suggest the most suitable joystick that would work with the game. Thanks for your time.Conrad.

Hello Conrad,

I just started in Red Baron 3D. I have XP, and it is working reasonably well for me. I am using a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick.

Have you ever seen the old Red Baron game? This latest version looks much better, and you can get plenty of help getting started. (At least I have been. )

Are you interested in Single player or online/multiplayer?

Regards,

...Lee

Hi Lee, thanks for the response. Yes I had Red Baron 1 , but the graphics for me were dissapointing. I have read mixed reviews about RB3D with XP - thanks for the joystick info. I have an old one from the RB1 days, but I'm sure it's dated now.

Thanks Rabu for the info on the OFF- that sounds very interesting and the graphics look superb. Do I have to buy the microsoft sim first and then get the add on? Also, can you get it in the UK? As you can see I'm new to this,my background is RC scale modelling and being a teacher.I'm lucky enough to have some holiday soon.

I haven't given up on the idea of RB3D Lee, as long as it worked on my system.I like the idea of multi-player, but I'd have to practice first! I'll give this thread a chance to enlighten me as I read the others. Thanks again for your help.
Conrad.

Yep, you can get it in the UK...OFF works with any English language computer. You have to have CFS3 and the update patch to v3.1 installed.. CFS3 is in most stores, or go on line to Ebay and you can find a bunch of them new and used.

You can learn all about it at Polovski's site where there are a lot of really good FAQ answers, install directions, info, etc.
