Well I'm not too sure they're abandoning the IL-2 engine here, but it looks like the collaboration is coming just in time for the much needed terrain implementation (where d-Strict really seemed to shine).

I hope it speeds up release time rather than delays it, D-Strict were pretty far along and Gennadich too.
My guess is that they will "port" the terrain model into the Il-2 engine. Why do I say this? The basis for the FM/DM/SFx and a/c modeling remains the Il-2 engine. ViKs has stated that they have done much work in this area. So there is no way they are going to toss this out.

Time will tell of course.

Time will tell indeed, the Sikorsky engine has all that too, and real world physics, ground object physics etc etc. Not sure how modular this all is but it might be a bit of a visible cludge to just plop the two engines together? Maybe ifs and buts hopefully someone will put our minds at ease at some point.
I think the FM will come from the Gennadich, but all of it could be merged down the middle

This weeks update is posted and it includes the Pfalz DIIIa!

That is great news because that means that all major fighter a/c are now in the sim (We havn't seen the SE5a yet but are told it is in).

This just gets better and better.

Some recent answers to some good questions.....

Here's a bit more info on GT's design progress taken from their website's forums:

Corki: So is there any news on if it will be IL2 adapted scenery or Sikorsky's engine for that bit or a bit of both?

VikS: A bit of both an more, it will be GT`s own

Barkhorn1x:Two important requests for the sim from a historical accuracy standpoint:

- the ability to field more than 1 plane type in each squadron
- the ability to assign a different skin to each a/c in the squadron

VikS: sure we can, but no promises untill we will make it, it depends alot, you know

GRViper: Do you plan to release a demo version?

VikS: yes

Alright.......!!!

Sounds good, but a little confusing. So it's a merger of the two - but mainly GTs? Hopefully all the best bits

Betty bought a bit of better butter......

VikS: The theme of project wiln`t make 180 degree turn, as we understand, that if to run across ideas and change everything everytime - finally you will got nothing for a much time waisted.

The thing that we got for sure at the moment, its an experienced programmers for our project - no more, no less.

Sounds like they're on GT's payroll.

Yeah, so they have signed up the programmers.. no more no less?
I guess they will work out how/what to do with the engines next, IL2 or Sikorsky or merged.
