Games.. does that include non-electronic ones?

Good afternoon,

It pretty much says it all in the topic:
Does the phrase "Games and Flight sims" include metal, supplied unpainted and played on a table-top variety?
Just curious if there are any nice, fun games out there, although I do realise that these games will be severely lacking in the "realistic" parts.
I have recently decided to try the "Algernon pulls it off" set of rules, as seen on the following web site: http://www.toofatlardies.co.uk/Products.html

Any other nice games out there?

Hello Sharkdog
Welcome to the Aerodrome

Yes that does include any type of game !
We have had many posts and discussions here about Blue max / Wings of war and nearly every other board game and model based wargame.

Feel free to ask away, or post some pictures of your games!

This is Wings of War:

It's a card game, but a miniature edition is coming.

Thanks!

Dogfight (1962) by Milton Bradley is a board game I used to play all the time as a kid back in the Sixties.

Details about it can be found here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1509

The other board game I used to play a lot of and still have is Richthofen's War by Avalon Hill (1972)

Details here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1711

I am sure there were many other ones but these are the two I used to enjoy playing with friends.

For a game that doesn't require a calculator and a 400 page rule book, try:

www.indysquadron.com and www.dawnpatrol.org

Fun, somewhat realistic, playable and a good hardcore following.

halfway there

Well, i've managed to get roughly half my planes painted so far, except for the extra bits, like flight markings, squad markings etc. etc.
Next Saturday I will try to get a small skirmish in with a mate, who has (superbly) painted some DVII's and Dr I's.
I'll post a short review of the rules-set and, if i can manage the digital camera, some pictures.

(regarding the "Wings of War" game: we have some die hard wargamers here who won't touch anything that doesn't actually use models. So we were looking into a tabletop/miniature-game and stumbled upon the rules-set mentioned in the first post.)

I love aces of aces. I've got the deluxe edition. I'm still trying to find someone who'll sit through a game of the advanced rules though.

I loved how the Ace of Aces deluxe edition's aircraft cards blended the different maneuvering abilities of the aircraft along with their performance as gun platforms and their ability to evade gunfire.

I actually tried to develop similar cards for aircraft in the power house and flying machine editions.

The one problem with the deluxe edition is that at least one of the photographs was "wrong", i.e. the enemy aircraft wasn't in the right part of the sky.
