GT presents Boistrancourt Aerodrome.

I like that view, as if looking from the observation tower. Once they get the sugar factory in it ought to be magnificent.

I hope they do JFM (and the chateau too).

Since Red Baron II I have not played with WWI sims again, this one seems really promising, does anyone know when it is expected to be released? (IŽll be at the store the day before!

Molague2,

There's been no official release date specified (except "by Fall 2007").

We're awaiting a press announcement by GT (and probably with their publisher 1C around this December), which will give us further details on the sim.

You know, if they did/are doing Boistrancourt (and I agree with you FlyXwire about the chateau), perhaps they are doing others as well? Roucourt, Vert Galand, Droglandt, Marckebeke, Toulis, etc? It'd be fantastic to have many specific airfields and not just a single generic layout for all the airfields.

I think the Gennadich Team began work on this project by first deciding what aircraft types they wanted to model for the time frame (initially 1917-18), and therefore their planning first involved organizing the plane list, and now the work has progressed into campaign and terrain building (my thinking here). The benefit that this build approach has for us customers, is that we'll likely see 30+ aircraft types available when the game is released!

A sim can also be designed by first considering the air campaigns that might be covered, which would then dictate the terrain and planes needed (the battle area and units involved in the fighting that should be modeled).

JFM, I'm also hoping that GT's designers have decided to put their energy and resources towards building in-depth terrain maps that will directly support the sim's included campaigns and missions, instead of trying to build a broad map of the Western Front. This approach might help keep the map building targeted and 'compartmentalized', and allow for more time to be put towards greater object density and the historical accuracy of the terrain being included.

Found a shot of the low-rent "Boistrancourt" I made for Forgotten Battles a while back:

Not quite the same, I know, but it was the best I could make with what the mission builder provided. Regardless, it served as a nice base for a Jasta 5 campaign I made. (I won't mention what airplanes I used, for fear of being stoned to death... )

Hey JFM at least your heart is in the right place and I am just out of reach of my rock pile so I won't be stoning you for using the Glad's!

Overall it looks like you put in quite a bit of effort, I know as I have made the odd mission myself in IL-2.
