For me it`s most important that it is made with passion. Today the most flightsim`s are made for kid`s with too much pocket-money.
I need to have accuracy like in Red Baron 3D. What i really would like to see is a little background story in the game. Maybe a story about a unknown pilot who`s telling his view of the great war in the air? Or maybe playing in the role of Ernst Udet ?? Or playing MvR`s younger brother.....

I want:

Great graphics.

Historical accuracy.

140+ flyable planes with as accurate flight characteristics as is possible to recreate, everything from a Taube or a Bleriot XI, to a Junkers D.I...SSW R.I, Zeppelin Staaken R.VI, the list goes on.

The ability to start in August 1914 and, with luck, end in November 1918.

Zeppelins.

The ability to game on any front, in any unit, of the war.

The ability to attack shipping, trains, and road traffic.

The ability to switch between pilot and gunner in multi-place aircraft.

Accurate ordinance. Armor piercing bullets and variable bomb sizes would be a good place to start.

Thankyou for your replies im thinking about making a ww1 game mod using the armed assualt engine, such features i want to include and are very possible:

- large amount of aircraft including bombers, all flyable with approriate usable gun positions (although the player will prolly not be able to switch between in flight)(multiple skins)

- historical campaign (undecided subject)

- single player stand alone missions

- the ability to attack ground based objects including (grounded baloons, railways, shipping, supply routes/depo's, trenches, artillery spotting ect

- day and night missions

- multiplayer dogfights and also mp mission co-op

- graphics will be high in features including normal mapping

- dynamic weather (although i doubt it will effect gameplay )

- area based damage system

Things id like to add but not sure if its posible at this stage:

- zepplins and baloons

- realistic flight model

- realistic crash model

Already known limitaions

- max viewing distance will only be 10 km at full graphics

- no wind

As im still deciding if this project is a good idea, any ideas suggestions, crits and coments are welcome.

I like the idea of multiplayer based game where you character has roleplaying skills that grows when get more experience and ofcourse all possible awards and promotions included, and the univorms and medals shows in players skin.
The idea could be aerodrome where there is fully detailled all barracks and hangars and mechanics and other squadron mates. There could be other human players in same squadron and there could chat. Your rank will tell how much you can choose to do. example hauptmann could design own missions and choose what players select to mission, also can select the new aircrafts in unit and also select new players to in squadron.

- Also there should be campaign that last from 1914 to 1918, succesfull missions tells who will won after all.
- Players could paint their own schemes.
- all historical realistic details as possible.
- You could choose and change squadrons. Example start in 2-seaters squad and got enought experience to fly fighters.
- Realistic damage model where all in the a/c is brakeble.
- Much trees and details in ground. Trains, ships...
- Realistic landscapes
- germans, austrian-hungary, italy, britain, france, belgium, us, russia
- The game team will be updated continally at least year.
- possible to modificate easily and the game team listen and might use
users graphics and other mods if those support the stability for game.

Thats it... who wants to do it ?

Paarma

And dont forget the games we have now... Example Over Flanders Fields mod for cfs3.

Thats a fine idea "Paarma" unfortunately i dont have the abilities for such a project ...someone else may tho.

sounds good to have the campaign go from 1914 -1918 tho and also i agree with you that the player should be able/made to change squadrons according to performance ect, ill see if can incorperate this in the mod.
I also plan to supply all the textures to player to encourage modifcation and good community made skins will be incorperated into the game in later patches. Ontop of this there will be a mission editor for players to create there own missions and even campaign.

I just now noticed that you planing to do mod for armed assault.
That was actually very good looking engine... Do you know how large that land area could be? Good luck to your project!

All the best Paarma

A lot of that is already in OFF Phase2 Paarma as you may know

Also you can flesh out the personalities in the squadron using this
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...ad.php?t=38913
pm bletchley there for details.

Hitori kyo if you want to make such a game go for it, make sure you compile a good team, as many of the things you say (such as 100's of aircraft) will take many many man hours to make. OFF so far has taken 3 years (gulp).

Indeed Pol,

It will take time to make models, skins, and code... years and alone many years.

Cheers

Paarma

The map size can be 400km square, i do indeed expect this mod to take some time and plan to start with maybe 10 - 20 aircraft and build from there. Im the only one team at the moment and can
- model
- texture
- animate
- script
- mission make
- graphics

does anyone have anymore ideas/features they would like to see ? also im trying to compile a list of aircraft any suggestions would be great.
