That's a tough call...IIRC, the original game was 16-bit and today's computers are geared for 64-bit software. You might be using drivers that didn't even exist when that game came out, and the graphics would probably be a major disappointment.

Theoretically, a new computer should be backward compatible with older software, but since they abandoned the DOS* platform years ago, you'd probably be wasting your time. You could try installing it...the worst thing that could happen is a box appearing with the question "Are you kidding me?" inside of it.

*I really miss DOS 4.0. I haven't had a good laugh in a long time.

I have a copy somewhere...it's what got me interested in WWI aviation . I need to see if I can even find it. I'm sure that IF I could, my fiance could make a copy for you.

Willi,
I am not sure of where to find it, I think I still have a copy of it around, plus our old circa 1994 PC. Even if you did get it to run, the graphics will be very disappointing.
Two questions for you though out of sheer curiosity:

1) Why do you want the original sim when you could get Red Baron 3D that could be tweaked to run on your present PC.

2) Why did you ask this in the off topic forum instead under "Games & Flight Sims"?

Warren

DOSBox is a emulator allowing you to play old dos games on later windows machines

Dosbox on Wiki for info

Shame you paid so much for that game, its available on several not to be mentioned websites.

Well I take that back, seems sierra (oops Dynimax or whatever the company was) put out a stripped down version at one time. Thats the one that seems to be posted in certain places. I think the purchase you made includes the mission builder and other stuff. So you did make a good purchase.

Dosbox is your friend.

Also, Red baron was bundled with "A-10 Tank Killer" on CD a few years after its release, so that is probably the best way to purchase it. You can get it for less than $5 on ebay, and possibly even Amazon.
