Stuff they should have put in RB3D
To me,there are lots of things that they should have put on RB3D(excluding patches).Who knows our ideas could be put into the 3rd edition of the Red Baron game

First and foremost, an accurate terrain: let's have recognizable roads, railways, rivers, canals; towns in the right places, and the front moving as it did between 1917 and the armistice. And make it look REAL. When I fly a sim I like to be able to have a map contemporary to the period beside me, look down from the cockpit and see the terrain as per the map. That way I can navigate the way real pilots did: it really adds to immersion.
Flying Corps did this - albeit over a very small area, and Battle of Britain II (also designed by Rowan) does it superbly. That's why it's my favourite sim.
Cheers!

Willi,
Granted, there were some things I think all of us would have liked to have seen, but I do not think we will see them in a third edition since the developers of RB were cast to the four winds years ago. Sierra divorced itself of RB, the developers, and sims in general in favor of shooters. (I had all three: RB, AOP, and AOE) At least they still make Ceasar.
However, hope springs eternal with Knights of the Sky. I doubt that my new PC will even be able to run it when it comes out since they keep adding so much to it.
One thing I always hated about flying RB online for the short time I did so, and that was everybody using radio chat. Made me feel that I was fighting in WWII instead of WWI. It changed the tactics too IMHO.
Whing mode off now.

I never used that chat. I was one of those lone-wolfers in an Alb DVa (advanced flight model). It was fun taking on a cloud of Camels and Nieuports down low trying to coordinate against my hit and runs! I'll certainly miss those days...

I have two issues with RB3D. The first is the lack of clouds. You can see the clouds when you take off and fly, but you're never in them. Clouds can play a role in a dogfight and it would be nice if RB3D had them. My second peeve is that each enemy aircraft type seems to be flown the same way. If you attack an FE-2 you known it'll twist and turn and dive toward the deck. If you attack a BE-2 it'll bank away and then try to gain altitude. Not that each aircraft shouldn't play to it's advantages, but it would be nice if they did something different once on a while.

Kirk,
That was one of the faults in the game's AI. IIRC, in the very first issue of RB the enemy a/c didn't do this.

I've played the Western Front Patch and Moving Front Patch for so long, going back to the Standard Disc version is just about unthinkable.
