Rudder Pedals and Joystick
I've been using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for some WW2 and general aviation syms (on WinXP) and wanted to change the rudder control from the joystick to CH Pro Pedals. I've poked around some, and not being computer savy, can't figure out how to do it. Anyone here care to share the secret?
Also, looking to expand my syms to include WW1, any decent ones currently out there? I'm not looking for loads of patches, etc, just a simple CD, DVD will do!
thanks!

Rudder pedal set-ups are often sim specific.
But the first steps in any set-up process is to install the CH software/attach the pedals/test to see if they work. Once you have that done then tell us what sim you are looking to set up and we can help you.

I haven't used CH software, the pedals and the joystick both self installed in XP when I plugged them in. Currently, I'm flying both Heroes of the Pacific and MSFS2004, neither seem to be able to allow just the rudder pedals to control the rudder. It seems like the logitech joystick has to forfeit the rotational axis to the pedals. I'm willing to call either tech support, but I know what CH tech will say, get one of their joysticks. Just seemed like a system thing, and I was curious if anyone else had run across a solution. Seems there are more than a few Extreme3D Pro users here.
Looking to add to the realism and not waste that $100 I just spent for the pedals. I know they will work with the CH yoke, I used that set up many years ago.....(Win 95!) Still have the gameport yoke and pedals....but the ones I'm using are the usb ones.

I am not familiar w/ Heroes of the Pacific and I do not MSFS2004 – but I know they are both recent so you should not be having any issues. However, often times sims will default to a joystick assignment for rudder pedals on the controllers screen
OK – do this:
1 Go to Settings/Control Panel/Game controllers
2. You should see two entries in the controller box – the first should be your joystick and the second will be your pedals – even if called something general like “USB device”. If you get these results go to step #3. If you don’t see that second device then your pedals did not install correctly and you should find your CH disc that came w/ the pedals and put it in your drive and follow the prompts.
3. If you see a second device – click on it and hit the “Properties” button. You should then see a “Calibrate” button. (I’m doing this from memory so it may in fact be under the “Advanced” button). Click on Calibrate and click OK for the “X” screen, OK for the “Y” screen and then actually press your pedals to calibrate them on the “Z” screen. Then click OK or Apply on everything to get back to the main controller box and click OK to exit.
4. Assuming that went alright you now have fully functional/calibrated pedals.
5. Now fire up MSFS2004 and go to something like Options/Controllers – there should be a box/button/slider of some sort that says Rudder. Simply check that box/push that button and save the changes. Important – if you see a text box next to the Rudder selection that gives you the name of your joystick then you need to click on it to highlight it and press one of your pedals. This should change the entry to “CH Rudder Pedals”. If so you are set – save and exit.
If none of this works then please tell me specifically where you have issues.

Download and install the CHProducts "Control Manager" software. You'll get finer resolution from the CHProducts hardware than with the XP drivers.

Witha little help from Logitech, I've got the pedals working in FS2004, but not in HOTP. The bad news is the pedals are defective, the right brake keeps hanging, I have to slam the pedals back and forth to get it free, so looks like they're going back. Thanks all for your help!

I would try calibrating first - just in case that is the issue.
Good luck.

That's the same setup I use. Try setting the twisty grip on the jstick so that it does not twist. Then ensure in the sim that the pedals are recognised and that they are on the Z-axis. Some sims, such as Rb3D simply won't work with this setup.
