OFF- over flanders fields

gratis addon you can download from

OFF News
but you must have installed cfs 3.1 on your pc. now i have this problem:
the game starts normally to the pilots profile, briefing and so on, then , when i went to the hangar for flying the mision, i get the message:
cd is required .
when i use the cfs-cd , i get theis message also.. what i can do, in de beginning, the game starts really ok..

OFF has a number of loathesome problems. I downloaded it and didn't do a thing to modify it. A day later, I get a problem that some skins are missing.

Not my problem. Took it up with them, and of course, it wasn't their fault...

They try, but their mod is really just a major pain. Fun, if you get it to work, but it's not worth the trouble that is bound to happen along the line. I'll stick with Red Baron 3D, even though I've got troubles with the installation.

Our guys always try and sort out installation problems (which are very rare these days - we've had it in service for a couple of years now, and pretty much everything has been ironed out.)
I'm guessing that the missing skins are those of aces for whom schemes are not known, or schemes we haven't yet had time to do. As we have well over 600 pilots in OFF, I'm sure you can appreciate that getting them all covered is taking some time. As it is, we now have well over 1000 skins, which is more than a few.

my problem is:
i have cfs3.1 on my pc, i play it normally with no cd-crack, means without cd. if i try to start off, the game runs to the chapter briefing , the screen is really ok from the grafic, i here the words :"contact" throug my speakers, than, blonk, i get the message:

original cd required..!!
i put the cd in,
same problem.
i delete the no cd crack, to play the game with original cd
same problem
i delete cfs, and installed both new, cfs and off
same prob
what the hell ist going on there?.
i try to register me in the off-forum, i get the answer:
the system-administrator have banned your e-mail-adress
please contact the administrator
i contact the administrator with e-mail from my one and only account (that works!!??)
no answer

first, be careful with no-cd patches : there are some that are cfs3.0, not cfs3.1, that would the first thing I would check.
Secondly, desinstalling cfs3 leaves sometimes leftover files that can screw up a reinstall. To make sure your next install is clean, follow the how-to there :
Sim-Outhouse - Combat Flight Center - CFS3 Other
(the download should start immediately if you're registered. If it doesn't, look for the "stupid's idiots guide to total reinstall of cfs3".)
Then, of course, don't forget to patch cfs3, run it once, and then install OFF. If your cfs3 runs, there's no reason OFF will not run.

About the missing skin files, there seems to have been a patch for these, but I'm not sure as I didn't have the problem. Anyway, there has been some threads about it at SOH so I would make a search there if I were you. It could also be a corrupted download.

Also note OFF does NOT run CFS3.exe, it runs SHELL.exe

So backup the shell.exe and rename your new exe to that.

LegendaryLoewenhardt, OFF only has problems for a few people, like all programs. Lots of skins missing are minor warnings as shredward says that's because ALL the possible Ace, or squad skins in the whole of WW1 haven't been made yet !!! Simply turn off the skin warnings in the workshop and then you won't get notified if a skin your squad or AI squad or ace needs.

We have a 2 GIGABYTE download full of skins which helps

but still 1000's more are being made.

Most people are up and running very quickly and enjoy it very much. See here...

Count me as one of them. Although my machine can't handle all the graphics options on "high", OFF is absolutely beautiful. I'm running it with no problems, and am just in awe of the gorgeous terrain, the plentitude of ace skins, and the weather effects. You guys have made an AWESOME mod. I foresee playing it for years to come.
