Because my system crashed with no survivors last week, I had to format my hard drive and reload everything. This included Red Baron 3D.
Problem is the old program has ground fire that is as lethal as anthrax, and will kill you deader than fried chicken if you are down in the weeds over the enemy trenches (which is where I end up after a long fight...always...I trade altitude for performance in a fight...always).
I once found a site that had downloadable patches, one of which would dial back the ground fire so that it was not a death ray. I cannot find that site anymore (I think it was a Sierra/Dynamix site). I have found one patch, but it calls for the RBII CD, and I know you ain't gonna believe this, but I cannot find it.
So.....does anyone know where I can find a patch to reduce the morbidity of enemy machine gun fire over the enemy trenches and around enemy air fields? Keep in mind, it cannot require the use of the RBII CD.
Thank you, in advance!

You need von Tom's Campaign Manager - I think you can get it here; http://www.wings-of-valor.net/
Also check out my mini-review of the FCJ patch a few threads down. FCJ is fully customizable in all respects and really takes the sim to another level.

The Campaign Manager allows you to change a lot of stuff, such as:
bullet weight (in essence lethality, heavier bullets do more damage)
how accurate rear and ground gunners are on their first shots
how quickly rear and ground gunners can track you
accuracy of rear and ground gunners after they "reaquire you"
I have found that these settings are crucial to getting a good game. I usually set my bullet weight about 2/3 along the slider, otherwise I have to put hundreds of rounds into an airplane to bring it down. I doubt this was really the case, afterall, a Fokker EIII was pretty fragile.

The full Canvas Jacket patch contains all the settings for bullet mass, rear gunner and ground gunner settings, along with a number of other settings, (1280x1024 ingame res, XP joystick/sound loss fix, dual adjustable AI tweaks among other things).
In actuality WW1 planes could take from 100 rounds to 1000 or more to bring them down, many engagements ended inconclusively due to one oponent or both running out of ammo or suffering a debilitating gun jam.

Thank you all for your help'
Given the results of all, I now ask if anyone has the CD for RB II to sell. *Gimmee a price and we can work a Pay-Pal deal, if that is what it takes,

EBay usually has a few copies - try and get an original RB3D in original box, rather than one of the knockoffs, it will be easier to run.
cheers,

Hello
I downloaded HA Gold for Red Baron 3D, sometimes it crashes when I click on "Aces preview", and when i quit the game i'm not able to play it again , as it gives an error message, unless i restart the system.
Any solutions?

Fortunate to have acquired a spare CD of this masterpiece, although its actually RB3D, which I hope suits your purposes. Yours for the princely sum of $0.00 including postage. Flip me a message with your address details and I'll send the CD on to you.

Phil:
I did not see your offer, sir, and I am embarrassed that I did not. Barker told me about it during a phonecon and I have been meaning to tell you how much I appreciate that gesture.
I have and I will be getting RBII from E-Bay. I know that you wanted to be a buddy with your offer, and it requires that I acknowledge your effort.
Buddies are special. They are closer much than brothers, Some are even closer than wives. Buddies have one common denominator. They will do anything to help another buddy who is in distress.
Phil is a buddy. Y'all be sure to stand up for him, at least as much as you would stand up for me.
Phil, you will have a corner to sleep and a bone to gnaw anytime you are here in the CONUS. There are more perks, but we will talk about them later.
